    Protecting your retail staff

Retail employees play a vital role in our communities, but they often face unique challenges. From dealing with difficult customers to potentially dangerous situations, it’s important to equip them with the tools they need to stay safe.

The New York Retail Worker Safety Act, enacted on September 5, 2024, underscores this importance and the need for retail workplace violence prevention training. It mandates that retail employers with 10 or more employees provide interactive workplace violence prevention training on a range of topics, including de-escalation tactics, active shooter drills and emergency procedures. The deadline for the initial round of NY workplace violence prevention training is March 4, 2025.
