What to consider when choosing the most effective Heat Illness Prevention training

Yes. Several states have enacted laws that require heat illness prevention training:
- California: California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Section 3395 and 3396
Requires annual training for all outdoor workplaces and most indoor workplaces where the indoor temperature reaches 82°F. - Nevada: Regulation R131-24AP
Applies to employers with more than 10 employees whose job classifications involve occupational exposure to heat illness. Training is required for any employee exposed for more than 30 minutes in any 60-minute period (excluding breaks). While the regulation does not mandate annual retraining, Nevada OSHA recommends refresher training as a best practice. - Oregon: OAR 437-002-0156 and OAR 437-004-1151
Requires annual training for employees performing work, whether indoor or outdoor, where the heat index equals or exceeds 80°F.
These regulations mandate training for employees and supervisors who work in high-heat conditions, both indoors and outdoors. While not all states have similar requirements yet, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is developing a proposed federal heat illness prevention standard. Traliant’s course is designed to meet the current training mandates in CA, NV, and OR, and help organizations proactively prepare for nationwide expectations.
