In a new article, David Ashman, Chief Product and Technology officer at Traliant, argues AI training needs to go beyond safe-use basics to cover the economics of AI. He points to survey data showing most organizations still aren’t training employees on responsible AI use, a gap that leaves people making costly AI decisions with no real guidance.

“The organizations that realize the greatest value from AI won’t necessarily be those that deploy the most models or automate the most workflows,” says Ashman. “It will be the ones that help employees understand where AI creates real value and when human expertise still matters most.”

Ashman outlines what strong AI training should now include: teaching employees to weigh AI’s cost vs. value, recognize when a simpler tool (or no AI) works better, and know when human judgment must stay in charge, all as ongoing training, not a one-time rollout.
