    Train. Reinforce. Protect.

Traliant Learning Topics pair foundational, attorney-authored training with reinforcement content, including Micro Reels that keep key concepts fresh throughout the year. Always protected, not more time in training.

Help managers get pay decisions right.

Managers don’t get wage and hour wrong because they don’t care. They get it wrong in fast-moving situations where the rules aren’t always clear. That’s where risk begins.

Traliant’s Wage and Hour Fundamentals Learning Topic prepares managers to recognize and respond to wage and hour risks in real time.

In just 30 minutes, the included cinematic, TV-style course builds practical judgment around compensable time, overtime, and meal and rest breaks. Managers don’t just learn the rules. They see how decisions unfold and what to do in the moment.

Through scenario-driven storytelling, the course is designed to make complex laws easier to understand and apply immediately. Managers learn to:

    • Recognize what counts as compensable time
    • Handle overtime and scheduling correctly
    • Avoid common pay and timekeeping mistakes
    • Know when to involve HR

The result is more consistent pay practices, fewer errors, and reduced risk of costly wage and hour claims.

Part of Traliant’s Employment Law Fundamentals program, this course helps managers make decisions that stand up to legal scrutiny. Short 2-minute Micro Reels, available separately, reinforce key concepts and support real-world application after training.

    What is a Learning Topic?

A Learning Topic is everything you need to cover one subject, like preventing harassment or keeping data safe. It’s more than a single course. It pairs attorney-authored training with reinforcement tools that keep the protection going after the course ends.

    How does it work?

The full course meets your requirements, giving a documented, defensible record. Reinforcement tools keep that protection working between annual trainings. Pick your Learning Topic, roll it out, and it keeps working all year.

    What’s in a Learning Topic?

Reinforcement tools vary by topic, so each Learning Topic includes the mix that fits its subject.

What to consider when choosing the most effective wage and hour training

Wage and hour training is designed to help managers understand the complex rules and regulations related to federal and state wage and hour laws. It's essential for organizations because it helps to:
    • Prevent legal issues: Wage and hour violations can lead to costly lawsuits, fines, and penalties. Training helps to ensure that organizations are complying with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and similar state laws.
    • Create a fair and equitable workplace: Training helps to create a workplace where employees are paid fairly for their work.
    • Promote a strong ethical culture: Training helps to create a culture where managers understand the importance of following the law and treating employees fairly.

Wage and hour training is essential for all organizations, particularly those with employees who work in multiple states or who have employees who may be eligible for overtime pay. Training helps to:
    • Equip managers: Managers are often the first point of contact for employee wage and hour issues. Training provides them with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate wage and hour requirements efficiently and compliantly. See Traliant’s article, “Why wage and hour training for managers is essential,” to learn more.
    • Promote a positive and supportive workplace: Training fosters a workplace where managers feel confident in their ability to handle wage and hour issues.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) is a federal law that establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting most full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments.

The FLSA classifies employees as either exempt or non-exempt.
    • Exempt employees: Exempt employees are typically paid a salary and are not eligible for overtime pay.
    • Non-exempt employees: Non-exempt employees are typically paid an hourly wage and are eligible for overtime pay.

The FLSA generally requires that non-exempt employees be paid overtime pay at a rate of one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek. There are some exceptions to this rule.
